Wye Valley River Festival

Every two years we celebrate the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with two weeks of art, entertainment, wonder and spectacle – the Wye Valley River Festival.

It is a gloriously creative series of outdoor events embracing innovative artistic work that inspires and challenges as it travels through the landscape. We choose a theme for each festival. In 2018 it was woods and trees (27% of the Wye Valley AONB is covered in woodland) and our artists and performers inspired us to change the way we look at and relate to trees in the environment. The magical Museum of the Moon, created by international artist Luke Jerram, was one of the highlights of the 2018 Festival.  As night fell a seven-metre wide fusion of lunar imagery and moonlight, suspended high in the ruins of the Abbey enthralled visitors. We are already planning for our next Festival in 2020.
