Riding

The Wye Valley is an ideal place for riding. Bridleways cut through the area, and Forest Enterprise allow horse-riding on many hard stoned tracks through their woodlands.

Pick up the leaflet to the Trellech Tracks route - £1.50 at a local Tourist Information Centre. This describes an enjoyable 14 mile circular riding route in the unspoilt countryside around Trellech, starting from Whitestones.

Several riding stables in or adjacent to the area offer lessons and opportunities for trekking through beautiful countryside.

For horse-lovers and race-goers, the area is also well-served by two race courses - Chepstow racecourse, within the AONB, and Hereford racecourse, just to the north of the area.

The Chepstow International Horse Trials is held annually in the beautiful landscape of Piercefield Park, near Chepstow. The area is also served by an all-weather equestrian arena, the nearby David Broome Event Centre at Ballan Manor, Crick.
