Symonds Yat
The area of Symonds Yat crosses the county boundary of Herefordshire and Gloucestershire. The two villages of Symonds Yat East and Symonds Yat West are divided by the River Wye and surrounded by the long meanders of the river.
Above Symonds Yat East is Yat Rock from where the true wandering nature of the river can be appreciated and the Iron Age fort that would have dominated the landscape over 2000 years ago.
In Symonds Yat West the 17th Century iron works and the 19th Century lime kiln hint at the industrial past of the Wye Valley.
