Volunteering

Volunteering in the Wye Valley AONB is a rewarding and valuable way to get directly involved in the work of the Wye Valley AONB unit. We have a range of opportunities currently available. 

Conservation Volunteers

The Volunteer task force makes a special contribution to the conservation and management of the Wye Valley AONB. Volunteers work on a range of landscape and wildlife conservation tasks, including scrub clearance, tree planting, hedging, stonewalling and improvements to pathways. Conservations tasks are held once a month throughout most of the year. They are an excellent way to learn a new skill, meet new people and become knowledgeable about the AONB and the landscapes and wildlife that make it so special.

New volunteers are always welcome. The current  varied group  include students, the active retired, career changers and those who work part-time. For more details about the volunteers task force e-mail: community@wyevalleyaonb.org.uk

Walk leaders, back markers and event assistants

        and event ass     The AONB runs a programme of guided walks and events throughout the year. We strive to keep this programme fresh and lively and aim to appeal to a broad audience. We are keen to hear from you if you feel you could assist us. Do you have specialist knowledge of the area or wildlife that you would like to share with others, would you like to assist at an event or help promote the AONB at an exhibition, or would you like to assist us in delivering our guided walks programme by fulfilling the role of backmarker? If the answer to any of these questions is yes then we would like to hear from you. Please get in touch to find out current availability of volunteering opportunities. Administration Volunteers

Volunteers can also contribute to the conservation of the AONB by offering a helping hand in the office, or by distributing our publications, leaflets and posters. Volunteers can give a couple of hours just the once, a day here and there, or even regular days. Project work/ work experience

The AONB welcomes volunteers who are prepared to offer a block of time to help develop a particular project or assist with research. These opportunities may suit students looking for work experience.
